Idle Immortal from Happy Player and Leoful is a colorful journey in which you must build a Chinese fantasy sect as you recruit disciples and prepare your squad for ascension. Your responsibility as sect master is great, but that doesn’t mean you will feel overwhelmed in the process. As the name suggests, this one is of the idle variety, so even while you’re away, your sect will continue to fight and develop their skills and abilities to maximize their individual potential and that of the group.

There are 16 different characters for you to recruit, and as they join your cause, you will get to learn more about their classes and expertise as you find the best combination that can compensate for their individual shortcomings. Each of these characters can pick from six different cultivation paths, which will boost their stats as they gain bonuses along the way.

 

You’re not alone in this adventure, and that’s why you’ll run into other sects and factions as you explore the world and make some progress in the overall story. You will need to continue developing your sect by gathering resources so that you can be ready for any inconveniences that you find. There are also random events that can benefit or hinder your progress, as well as some hidden treasures to find.

Combat is automatic, so characters will use their skills and abilities as needed to try to survive each battle. You will be able to see when your characters will attack and when enemies will attack, since their respective icons will move over the timeline bar at the top center of the screen. You can press the ZR button to increase the speed of battle.

What will you be doing with the resources you collect? Why, you will expand your sect and its facilities! You will need to increase your sect’s reputation as well to gain access to additional upgrades and new buildings for your home base. You can get the Smithy, which you can use to forge equipment for your cause. Just use a blueprint for crafting and consume the corresponding materials, but not the blueprint itself. The same blueprint can yield equipment of different rarities, which means you can end up with, say, a sword that is just of common quality, or one with a large stat boost thanks to its legendary quality.

Be sure to claim these pieces of equipment from the forge’s temporary storage, so that you can then add them to your loadout. Having the right type of equipment can provide you with the stats boost that can make a difference during subsequent battles. This is why you should search for better gear to replace inferior ones so that you’re not caught off guard.

Another area you can unlock at your headquarters is the Hero Hall. The Hero Hall is where you can spend some Spirit Stones to recruit disciples to have them join your team for excursions and combat. The higher a disciple’s Spiritual Root aptitude, the higher its cost is going to be. Adding more expensive disciples is definitely going to be worth it! You will then need to go into the Team section to add the new disciples to your group by placing them over one of the squares on the grid.

Along with the content in the game, there are also two pieces of DLC that you can get to expand your experience: the Daughter of Fate and the Seven-Star Strategist. Each one is available for $4.99, and it will give you access to new story missions that you need to complete to be able to recruit each of the characters to your squad. That way, you’ll be able to take advantage of their particular skills and abilities to turn the tide of battle in your favor.

You can also get the Idle Immortal Deluxe Edition physical Nintendo Switch release from Leoful, which, along with the base game, also includes all of the additional DLC on the cartridge.
