Golftacular! from PolyCrunch Games and Both Good is a colorful and quirky mini-golf experience with an arcade twist. Check out our Golftacular! review!

Golftacular! from PolyCrunch Games and Both Good is a colorful and quirky mini-golf experience with an arcade twist. It’s a party game in which up to four players will be taking turns while playing as characters Tortillo, Chuck, Fin, Poop, Papa, Mama, Claude, and Frend. While the goal is simple – that is, to get the ball into the hole – the way in which you achieve this is anything but. You’ll need to not only line up your shots, but also make the most of the different items that you’ll gain access to.

Golftacular! Review - 1

Once it’s time for you to take your shot, you’ll be using the left analog stick to aim as you move the left analog stick left and right as needed. You can also press up and down on the left analog stick to control how much power you’ll use for a shot. Use the R and L buttons to zoom in and out for your view. After you’ve picked the right angle and power, press the A button to shoot the ball. Oh, and you can use the right analog stick to move the camera.

If you want to use an item, you can pick the items icon and then select the one that you want to use. Do know that each item will have an associated energy cost. Some of these items include Jumpy, which will allow you to activate a jump during your shot; Portal, which allows you to immediately place a one-way portal that will last until your next turn; Chip Shot, which makes your next shot aimed upwards; or Insta-Stop, which can be activated during your shot to immediately stop your ball… even while floating in the air!

Golftacular! Switch Review - 2

That one is the first item that hints at how things are about to get crazy. Take, for example, the Run ‘n Jump item. Using it will allow you to immediately take control of your ball for 5 seconds before resuming your turn. And since using this item does not count as a stroke, you can end up getting a Hole In Zero! Another crazy item is the Air Drop, which will immediately steer a missile down from the sky, which will knock away the balls it impacts.

If you’re playing on your own, you can pick between the Puzzle Mode and Solo Tour Mode. Puzzle Mode will have you taking on each of the 40 levels on offer as you try to get the ball to the hole. While working on this, you can also aim at getting a three-star rating. You can do this by completing a puzzle level in as few hits as possible. And if you really want to 100% the game, there’s also a bonus coin to collect in each level.
