Jaleco Sports: Faceoffs from Rock It Games and Sickhead Games brings us classic tennis, basketball, and hockey games making the jump to Nintendo Switch. We’re getting Racket Attack/Moero!! Pro Tennis, Hoops/Moero!! Junior Basket – Two on Two, and Pro Sport Hockey/USA Ice Hockey. The first two games were released for the Famicom/Nintendo Entertainment System, while Pro Sport Hockey and USA Ice Hockey are available in their Famicom/Nintendo Entertainment System version as well as their Super Famicom/Super Nintendo Entertainment System version.

Racket Attack / Moero!! Pro Tennis offers 8 men’s and 8 women’s tennis players, with each one having their own strengths and weaknesses for you to consider. The action is presented from an overhead view, as you take on the Tournament Mode in which you’ll need to win a series of matches to claim the championship trophy. You can also jump into a 2-player exhibition mode so that you can play against another fellow human.
Hoops / Moero!! Junior Basket – Two on Two is a fast-paced, arcade-style take on street basketball, as you play on a half-court. You’ll need to work on blocking shots, getting the ball into your hands by stealing it from your opponent, passing it down, and trying to outscore them. There are 8 characters with different strengths and weaknesses for you to try out as you take on 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 matches, picking from the two courts on offer.

The last ones in this compilation are Pro Sport Hockey/USA Ice Hockey. This one is available for the Nintendo Entertainment System as well as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, as well as their respective Japanese counterparts for the Famicom and the Super Famicom, respectively.
You’ll get to pick between 24 teams in the league. What league? Why, the National Hockey League! You know, the NHL. That’s right, this pair of games used to feature the then-current 24 NHL teams with their rosters for the 1992-1993 NHL season and 288 professional hockey players! But since this is a re-release and relicensing all of that would be rather complicated, we’re getting random names for all players. You can play an exhibition game, an official game, or go into a full 84-game season, jumping into the playoffs and the Cup Finals if you’re good enough.

This compilation also features an in-game achievements system for you to work on, in case you want to 100% this collection. Some of the objectives to complete include winning a game without your opponent getting a point in Racket Attack, taking your first dunk in Hoops, winning a 2-on-2 shoot game in Hoops, scoring a goal with Stephan Kratzky in NES Pro Sport Hockey, winning a game in overtime in SNES Pro Sport Hockey, and scoring an overtime goal with Bobby Tecleir in SNES Pro Sport Hockey, to name some examples.

We’re also getting some options to change how the games look by adding filters that give them that old-school look from back in the day. There’s also a section where you can check out 3D versions of each of the game’s boxes – once you complete some objectives to unlock them – and you can always press the ZR button at any time while playing any of the games to take a look at digitized versions of their manuals. Jaleco Sports: Faceoffs is out on Nintendo Switch with a $9.99 price tag.
