Joe Danger Hitting PSN Next Week
May 31, 2010 | Jay | 2 CommentsThis is one of those PSN games I had my eye on for a while. I wonder if Eddie got his hands on it when they showed it off at PAX earlier this year? Anyway, as I said in a post from a while back, it’s kind of like LBP and MNR in a way that you can create your own stunt tracks in the game, and play with friends on these tracks, with different routes and the like. What’s really cool is that you can edit your track at any time:
Creating levels in Joe Danger is as fast and fun as playing the game itself. In fact, you never leave the game! As you ride through your level, press Edit at any time to freeze the world and play about with it however you want. You can drop a ramp then launch Joe over it, or place a Shark Tank just before he lands.
You can also create challenges for others to try to top, or race against them in tracks created by you. Like LBP and MNR, all the tracks in game are made using the game’s creation tools. In single player, the game includes 11 tours of up to 10 races each, so there’s a lot of stuff you can draw ideas from for your own tracks. You might be able to play head-to-head online and on split-screen (considering there were four people on a track in the video, I would assume that means 4 player split screen, but a screenshot does show split screen for two), but the biggest draw, according to the developers, is trying to get high scores, which, in itself, adds to the replay value for those who are more competitive.
The game looks promising and might wind up being the Indie game to get this year (and it’s exclusive to the PS3). It will hit the US PSN next Tuesday, and they are trying to get a EU release as close as possible to that (they will make that announcement on the EU blog when it’s ready). It will be on sale for $14.99, but given the content, it might be worth it!
Be sure to check out some of the developer’s other videos after the jump. They show off a coin dash track, as well as a quick one that they made and tested out, with some hilarious traps and the like (it gives you a good idea of the different things you can do).
