Speed Factor from Ratalaika Games and lightUP is an old-school-inspired racing game on PlayStation 5. The game pays homage to racing games of the 1980s and 1990s, offering 2D pixel graphics for each course and the cars, as you race down the 50 tracks that are split into 5 different locations. It’s now time to grab your racing helmet and get behind the wheel so that you can aim for the #1 spot!

The controls are simple and to the point, so that you can focus on the action. You’ll steer your car by using the left analog stick or the D-Pad, accelerating by pressing the X or R2 buttons, and hitting the brakes by pressing the Circle and L2 buttons. If you have a charge, you can use the nitro boost by pressing the Square, L1, or R1 buttons as needed.
The money that you collect during a race – and that you can also get as your prize money based on what spot you finish – can be spent at the car shop to get some upgrades. These upgrades include adding one extra nitro to your max stock, which can make a big difference for subsequent races since you can use a nitro right as you start a race to gain an advantage over the group.

Trophy-wise, since this one is from Ratalaika Games, that means we’re getting a Cross-Buy release that will allow you to download the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game at no extra cost, and each one will have its own trophy list for you to work on. Each list will be split into 2 Silver trophies and 11 Gold trophies for you to work on. What will you need to do for that shiny Platinum trophy?
The objectives for this release are going to be very straightforward. You’ll see trophies pop for winning a race, winning 10 races, winning 30 races, finishing one race, finishing 10 races, finishing 20 races, getting 50 cash, 100 cash, and 450 cash as prize money, and winning the last race in the first three locations. It’s something that shouldn’t take you more than an hour and change to complete. But if you need some extra help, you can check out this Speed Factor Trophy Guide.

As you complete the last race in each section and win it, you’ll get to collect a special cup. This cup is used to open the door that will lead you to the next section, so that you can do it all over again. You’ll also get the keys to new vehicles that you can use to race. Speed Factor is available as a Cross-Buy title, so your $4.99 purchase will allow you to download the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game.
